Being a mother is a full time job. It's filled with messy diapers, spit up, late hour feedings, tons of tears, vomit, and poop, and the list goes on and on. Yes, it can be extremely messy, but it's also a beautiful thing that comes with tons of smiles, laughs, hugs, kisses, and plenty of love all around. Being a full time mom can take a toll on us mothers. Ladies, you know what I mean. We run on little to no sleep, to take a shower is like Christmas, and we would rather take a nap then go out with friends. Let's face it moms, it would be a miracle if somehow we could be a full time mom and still look good.
In all actuality you can be a mom and still look awesome. I think websites like to play up on the running ragged daily train when you become a mom. Don't get me wrong though, somedays it is the most amazing gift ever to be able to take a shower and do you your hair and makeup. Well, I believe that as a mother you can still look good and keep yourself well maintained. Granted, there may be those days where you are not going to get anything done for you personally. Don't worry, we've all been there. So, what is a mommyista? Well, I did some research and in all truth, I couldn't find an exact defination. With that being said, this is basically my take on it. I took two words together and mashed them together to define what I consider myself and many other women out there. Obviously the first word is mommy and the second word, fashionista. I've always considered myself a bit of a fashionista. I believe any mother can get themselves together, lose that baby weight, keep your hair shiny and healthy and find great deals to keep you wearing that hottest clothes, within reason of course. I mean, after you become a mom it's kind of silly in my opinion to be dressing like you're still in high school. You can still look great without dressing like a teeny bopper. A mommyista is a mother with fashion sense. Take me for example: I am a mother of 2 adorable daughters. I shop for high end products but, always save around 75% of what it's actuauly worth. Shop at overstock places. Ross happens to be my absoute favorite. They offer some of the most high end brands at a little to no price. I have learned a great deal about hair and makeup products and what products to use on my spefic body that blends well for me. One of the best compliments I get from people that just meet me is shock that i'm a mother of two that are 13 months apart. Even though I love being a mother I love that I can still blend in and come across as if I had never been pregnant at all or that my image hasn't been destroyed by never getting a minute to myself to work on just me. There is nothing wrong with having days where your hair is all nappy and up in a messy bun, you have bags under your eyes, you smell like you haven't bathed in a week, and you are still in your pajamas. Heavens know I've had plenty of days like this. It all comes with the joys we call motherhood. As for body image goes, not every women can get back to that perfect shape before you had kids. In fact no women will never have the body back. Even if it seems like it, after having a baby, your body will never be the same again, but that's the beauty of it all. Stretch marks are also a thing of beauty in my opinion. That is for another post in the future. I consider there to be alot of different mommy types out there. Which type of mom are you? A natural mama, also known as a crunchy mom, are you clingy and over protective, known as a helicopter mom, just a regular simple mom, are you more of a bestie mom, where you consider yourself more of a best friend than a parent, or a mommyista, like me? There are plenty of other mom types out there and every mother is special in thier own way. Love yourself and the women God created you as, all while being a good mother and as always,
